The Narrows
Warner Books
2002
FBI agent Rachel Wilding gets a package ostensibly from serial killer The Poet and is called out of career exile (field offices in North and South Dakota) to assist. Meanwhile, Bosch has been called in by Graciela McCaleb (from Connelly's book "Bloodwork") to investigate some indications that her husband's death was not as natural as had been assumed at the time. Their paths cross in the desert location where a number of victims are being unearthed by the FBI. Sparks fly between Bosch and the FBI.
This book has the characteristics of a good page turner -- fast-paced plot development, familiar characters who are colored in slowly over a number of books, good vs. evil, standalone book in a series, and so forth. I read it in a day. Connelly is definitely a good storyteller.
