This was a great book! Very entertaining.
The author takes a tour through the modern day Confederate states. His activities included participation in some Civil War battle reenactments with a group of "hard core" reenactors, a look at racial tensions, interviews with residents and historians, and visits to famous Civil War sites. Horwitz is surprised in some cases by what he learns.
As in Blue Latitudes, Horwitz writes with a sense of humor and keeps the narrative moving.
